RAUW - jazz tot het pijn doet 2020

In January RAUW brings an evening full of weird sounds, rock-hard grooves and exciting improvisations to Roodkapje!

The line-up consists of four Rotterdam bands, FAST D, The Celestial Turkey, Soil Painting and ROEST that show that musicians in 010 are averse to being labeled. They break down the walls of conformism between jazz, rock and electronics. The guitar riffs, synth sounds and solid beats have found their way to jazz. Improvisation, the core of jazz, is retained, but the tools have been renewed.

RAUW is the release of the new EP from the band ROEST, entitled "Inloopmuziek". Band leader and drummer Ruud Voesten did not merely want to present his own work. He also wanted to show the scene where his music is embedded. Moreover, he was looking for an alternative, creative and raw setting that matches that scene and their sound. With partner in crime Jazz International Rotterdam, Ruud made a shortlist of bands and made a tour of Rotterdam to find the most suitable location. It became RAUW, and it became Roodkapje: a mini-festival full of front runners from the Rotterdam jazz scene!
